Learning about the trials and tribulations faced by the independent publishing author has been a fun journey. As I have written more, looked for agents, and then found my independent publisher (Culicidae Press), I have gained a great deal of knowledge about what it takes to be an author. Clearly, some ‘learning by doing’ in action.
Consequently, on Saturday 7/25, I was happy to join the Athens Indie Author Summit at the Universalist Fellowship in Athens (which is a beautiful building if you’ve ever seen it), to talk about my experiences with my two books, Yamacraw Bluff & Jenkins’ Ear https://lnkd.in/eUGe7daX.
The event was designed to connect independent authors with publishing professionals, including Culicidae Press, Ballast Books, Dream To Author, and Midwestern Books. Expertly organized by Anna Jinja Mather, it was a wonderful success. In addition to attending and discussing my experiences, I learned about the importance of endorsements, signing events, and podcasts.
